Shooting Training for Active-Duty Police Officers
Monthly training for active-duty police officers: self-defence shooting, shooting under stress, clearing malfunctions and shooting from cover. Led by a former Cobra firearms instructor.
This monthly training for active-duty police officers focuses on the shooting skills that are really needed in everyday police work: practical, under realistic conditions and focused on the essentials.
Content
Depending on the needs and experience of the participants, the content is selected in advance and covered in rotation.
- Self-defence shooting: fast, precise reaction in acute threat situations
- Shooting under acute stress
- Clearing stoppages and other weapon malfunctions quickly and safely to restore operational readiness as fast as possible
- Shooting from cover, as real operational situations may require
- Technique and tactics against multiple armed opponents
Schedule
The session starts with a short theoretical briefing on the safety rules and the course of the training. This is followed by the practical part on the range: a warm-up with the basics, then a step-by-step progression to operational drills: self-defence shooting, malfunction clearing under time pressure and shooting from cover. At the end there is time for questions and individual feedback.
About the trainer
The training is led by Thomas Schuh, known as "der Schuhter", currently an operational trainer with the police in active service. He served for more than seven years with the Austrian special police unit Einsatzkommando Cobra, where he also worked as a firearms instructor.
