Firearms License Course

Completing this training is a requirement for obtaining a firearm possession card or a firearm pass. The procedure under the new legal regulations taking effect on April 28, 2026, is as follows:

You register here online for the "New Firearm License" training course. After completing the training, you submit the firearm license certificate to the authorities and provide the name of a psychologist who will conduct the mandatory psychological assessment regarding firearm suitability. The law requires the same training as a refresher course every five years (currently without a psychological assessment, except for individuals who applied for a firearm possession card after June 1, 2025; for these individuals, a repeat psychological assessment under the new Firearms Act is required once after five years). You should then register with us (upon police request) for the "Firearm License Refresher" course.

During this approximately 60-minute training session, you will learn the essential legal regulations concerning firearms, their technical operation, and key rules for safe handling. We would be happy to advise you on selecting a suitable firearm and refer you to our retail partners.

Costs: Initial application training €85; refresher course €49. The psychological assessment costs €813.60 (a fee mandated by law).

Note: This training represents the statutory minimum requirement and does not replace comprehensive professional training in firearm handling. As a first step toward serious initial pistol training, we offer our "Pistol Basic" course, available either as a weekly group session or a private course. The firearm license training involves firing only the five rounds required by law. If you would like to gain your first shooting experience with an instructor immediately following the firearms license training, we offer the 75-minute course "Safe Start – Pistol Introduction."
